To honor women working to improve the lives or women or girls
The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women or girls. Honorees are women who work or volunteer to improve the lives of other women or girls. Their efforts have had a significant impact, and also inspire and encourage other women.
Our Service Committee is seeking nominations of local women who have made a significant difference in the lives of other women or girls in our community through professional and/or volunteer work for consideration as our Club’s Ruby Awardee. A Soroptimist member is not eligible for this award. Women may self-nominate, or must have the signed consent of the nominee if nominating someone else.
To nominate yourself or a woman in our community, download our writable Ruby Nomination Form and complete. Include your statement, 750 words or less, about why this woman should be considered. To submit via email, "Save as" preferably the nominee's last name, send both form and statement as attachments, with Ruby Award as the Subject line, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Or print both and submit via mail to SICC, Ruby Award, PO Box 794, Carson City NV 89702. Form and statement must be received by February 26, 2018 to be considered.
The Ruby Awardee and a guest will be invited to our Club’s April Program Meeting for recognition and presentation of the award. In addition, a $500 donation is made in the Ruby Awardee’s honor to a nonprofit organization of her choice. The $500 donation is not made to the Awardee directly. Our Club Ruby Awardee is also submitted for consideration of a regional award to Soroptimist International of the Americas - Sierra Nevada Region (SNR).
