Program to Feature Miss Carson City - Pageants Past & Present
As part of its year of Celebrating Sixty - 60 Years of Service in Carson City, the Carson City Soroptimist October Program Meeting will feature more than 50 years of the Miss Carson City Pageant. The meeting, from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, is held in the north room of Glen Eagles Restaurant. It is open to the public, at no charge, with prior reservations required. An optional plated lunch, with choice of entrees, is available for $16. Monday, October 23 is the deadline to respond - email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 775-297-4890 to reserve a seat, or for more information.
Miss Carson City 2017, Macie Tuell, will present the first part of this Program, speaking about her pageant experiences, platform, and education goals. The Program will then continue with history of the Club's role as the Miss Carson City Pageant coordinator and host from 1962 until 1979. Club member Joan Andreas will share her memories about the pageant, the contestants, and community support during the 1970s. In addition to the presentations, the club will have on hand exhibits of some of its pageant memorabilia, such as programs and profiles of Miss Carson City winners during the '60s and '70s, news clippings, and some selected comments from contestant applications. The Club would also appreciate hearing from local women that participated in the Pageant over the years, especially those that took part during the Soroptimist's administration.
